What did God Create?
Faith
may be defined briefly as an illogical belief
in the occurrence of the improbable.
-H. L. Mencken
According to the
Bible's defenders, God revealed his secrets to a handful of unknown scribes.
Nobody knows anything about or who those select people are, except for what they
wrote in the Bible. In essence, the Bible's defenders urge that Scripture be
accepted as truthful fact based on innumerable layers of hearsay testimony.
Now if there such thing as a God who revealed his secrets
to these select few, then it is reasonable to expect that the information from
these unnamed revealers should match up with what is known about the universe
today.
What we will find instead, is that there is not a single
discovery in science which was revealed through the Bible. At best, the Bible
reveals the state of ignorance in ancient times-even to the point where ancients
were ignorant about where their personal thoughts came from, when they believed
they were revealed by God.
God created all things
Let us start with the theological assertion that God created
all things. All is a powerful word, meaning there are no exceptions.
It is commonplace for believers to rationalize about things they don't like,
such as evil, as something God had no responsibility for. If that
were the case, then God could not be the creator of all things.
31And
God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was
evening and there was morning, a sixth day.
(Gen. 1:31)
24Thus
saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am
the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone;
that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; (KJV Isaiah 42:24)
7I
form light and create darkness, I make weal and create woe, I am the LORD, who
do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7)
16Not
like these is he who is the portion of Jacob, for he is the one who formed all
things, and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the LORD of hosts is his
name. (Jer. 10:16)
16for
in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities-all things were
created through him and for him. (Col. 1:16)
9and
to make all men see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who
created all things; (Eph. 3:9)
11"Worthy
art thou, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for thou didst
create all things, and by thy will they existed and were created." (Rev 4:11)
Earth
Because the biblical writers knew nothing about gravity,
the concept of an earth floating in space was unimaginable. The idea of a
spherical earth was equally out of the question; people would fall off, they
thought.
Earth has foundations
21Have
you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? (Isaiah 40:21)
5Thou
didst set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be shaken.(Psalms 104:5)
Earth rests on pillars
8.For
the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and on them he has set the world.
(1 Sam. 2:8)
Earth doesn't move.
30tremble
before him, all the earth; yea, the world stands firm, never to be moved. (1 Chron. 16:30)
1.Yea, the
world is established; it shall never be moved;
(Psalms 93:1)
Earth has corners
12He
will raise an ensign for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel,
and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (Isa. 11:12)
1After
this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth. (Rev. 7:1)
Earth has ends
64And
the LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the
other; and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which
neither you nor your fathers have known. (Deut. 28:64) Notice the mention of other
gods.
9He
makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the
spear, he burns the chariots with fire! (Psalms 46:9)
33"And
those slain by the LORD on that day shall extend from one end of the earth to
the other. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall be
dung on the surface of the ground.(Jeremiah 25:33)
8Again,
the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of
the world and the glory of them;
(Matt. 4:8) Note: A spherical earth does not allow all of the kingdoms of the
world to be seen from a single vantage point.
Earth sits on the water.
6to
him who spread out the earth upon the waters, for his steadfast love endures for
ever; (Psalm 136:6)
9And
God said, "Let the
waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry
land appear." (Gen 1:9)
Planetary Motion
A sun that moves around earth and a sun and moon capable of remaining
motionless
13And
the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the nation took vengeance on
their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stayed in the
midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. (Josh 10:13)
Where the sun goes down in noon
9"And
on that day," says the Lord GOD,
"I will make the sun go down
at noon, and darken the earth in broad daylight.(Amos 8:9)
A place where the sun moves backward
11And
Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow back ten steps,
by which the sun had declined on the dial of Ahaz. (2 kings 20:11)
A star whose light has GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) accuracy
9When
they had heard the king they went their way; and lo, the star which they had
seen in the East went before them, till it came to rest over the place where the
child was. (Matt 2:9)
Where stars fall on to earth
25and
the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be
shaken. (Mark 13:25)
13and
the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit
when shaken by a gale; (Rev. 6:13)
Heaven
Heaven is described as a physical place where the creator
God all the other gods dwell. This doesn't match up with the contemporary
depiction of God being everywhere at once. Instead, it fits with the pagan
depiction of gods having a dwelling place.
Heaven is contained by a solid dome above Earth.
6And
God said,
"Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the
waters from the waters." (Gen 1:6)
18Can
you, like him, spread out the skies, hard as a molten mirror? (Job 37:18)
22Over
the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of a firmament, shining
like crystal, spread out above their heads. (Ez. 1:22)
3And
those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament; and those
who turn many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. (Dan. 12:3)
Heaven rains brimstone and fire
24Then
the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of
heaven; (Gen. 19:24)
10But
Elijah answered the captain of fifty, "If I am a man of God, let fire
come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty." Then fire came down from
heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. (2 Kings 1:10)
Stones fall from heaven
11And
as they fled before Israel, while they were going down the ascent of Beth-horon,
the LORD threw down great stones from heaven (Joshua 10:11)
God dwells in heaven
11And
as soon as we heard it, our hearts melted, and there was no courage left in any
man, because of you; for the LORD your God is he who is God in heaven above and
on earth beneath. (Joshua 2:11)
God has a throne in heaven
4The
LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven; (Psalm 11:14)
Other gods dwell alongside God's throne
19And
Micaiah said, "Therefore
hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the
host of heaven standing beside him on his right hand and on his left; (1 Kings 22:19)
God sees earth from heaven
19that
he looked down from his holy height, from heaven the LORD looked at the earth,
(Psalm 102:19)
Jesus carried up to heaven
If Jesus was carried up to heaven, then he couldn't have
been dwelling in heaven at the time of creation.
51While
he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven
(Luke 24:51)
War, violence and armies in heaven
Heaven is not a place where the dead can live in peace
12From
the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered
violence, and men of violence take it by force. Matt. 11:12)
7Now
war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon; and the
dragon and his angels fought, (Rev. 12:7)
14And
the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, followed him on
white horses. (Rev. 19:14)
Heaven will not last forever
35Heaven
and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Matt. 24:35,
Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33)
LIFE FORMS
Creationists complain about gaps in fossil records. Well,
there a few gaps in the biblical record. The following list summarizes God's
bizarre creations.
Behemoth
Job describes Behemoth as a kind of a super ox.
15"Behold,
Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox.
16Behold,
his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly.
17He
makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
18His
bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron.
19"He
is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword!
(Job 40:15-19)
Unicorns
Horse like animals with a long horn on their forehead.
22God
brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. (Num. 23:22 KJV)
7And
the unicorns shall come down with them, (Isaiah 34:7 KJV)
Unusual fowls
Four legged creeping fowls with the bodies of winged
insects.
20All
fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an
abomination unto you (Lev. 11:20 KJV) See same verse below.
20"All
winged insects that go upon all fours are an abomination to you.
(Lev. 11:20) Newer revisions associate fowl with winged insects.
Bald locusts
The regular kind must have had hair on their heads.
22Of
them you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust
according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper
according to its kind. (Lev. 11:22)
Winged insects with four feet
23But
all other winged insects which have four feet are an abomination to you.
(Lev. 11:23)
Rare hares
They chew cud and have hoofs. Badgers said to have hoofs
6And
the hare, because it chews the cud but does not part the hoof, is
unclean to you. (Lev. 11:6)
7Yet
of those that chew the cud or have the hoof cloven you shall not eat these: The
camel, the hare, and the rock badger, because they chew the cud
but do not part the hoof, are unclean for you. (Deut. 14:7)
Dragons
33Their
wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. (Deut. 32:33, KJV)
29I
am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. (Job 30:29, KJV )
20The
beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls. (Isa. 43:20, KJV)
2And
he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years, (Rev 21:2)
Satyrs
Depicted as having pointed ears, short horns,
the head and trunk of a man, and the hind legs of a goat, and as being fond
of acting riotous.
14And
wild beasts shall meet with hyenas, the satyr shall cry to his fellow;
yea, there shall the night hag alight, and find for herself a resting place.
(Isaiah 34:14)
7So
they shall no more slay their sacrifices for satyrs, after whom they play
the harlot. This shall be a statute for ever to them throughout their
generations. (Lev. 17:7)
15and he
appointed his own priests for the high places, and for the satyrs, and
for the calves which he had made. (2 Chron. 11:15)
Sea Monsters
They are not whales or just creatures of the sea. By
tracing the Hebrew root, tannin, we find them to be those mythological
monsters, serpents or dragons.
21So
God created the great sea monsters [tannin] and
every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to
their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it
was good. (Gen. 1:21)
21And
God created great whales
[tannin] . (Gen. 1:21 KJV)
21So
God created the great creatures of the sea [tannin] . (Gen. 1:21 NIV)
33their
wine is the poison of serpents [tannin], and the
cruel venom of asps. (Deut. 32:33)
33Their
wine is the poison of dragons [tannin], and the
cruel venom of asps. (Deut. 32:33 KJV)
13Thou
didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons [tannin]
in the waters. (Ps. 74:13)

Fiery serpents
6Then
the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people,
so that many people of Israel died. (Num. 21:6)
15who
led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with its fiery serpents
and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you
water out of the flinty rock, (Deut. 21:6 )
Flying serpents
6An
oracle on the beasts of the Negeb. Through a land of trouble and anguish, from
where come the lioness and the lion, the viper and the flying serpent,
(Isaiah 30:6)
Dust eating serpents
14The
LORD God said to the serpent,
"Because you have done this,
cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you
shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.(Gen 3:14)
Talking animals
3030And
the ass said to Balaam, "Am
I not your ass, upon which you have ridden all your life long to this day? Was I
ever accustomed to do so to you?" (Num. 11:30)
4But
the serpent said to the woman, "You will not die. 5For
God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like
God, knowing good and evil." (Gen. 3:4-5)
All animal life are vegetarians.
30And
to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything
that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have
given every green plant for food." (Gen 1:30)
Giants
16And
Ishbibenob, one of the descendants of the giants, whose spear weighed
three hundred shekels of bronze, and who was girded with a new sword, thought to
kill David. (2 Sam. 21:16)
33And
there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim); and
we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them." (Num. 13:33)
Evolution
Let Creations deny Darwinian evolution all they want.
According to the word of God, Jacob put streaked wooden rods in front of Laban's
flock when they mated. The sight of the rods caused the offspring to have
striped, speckled and spotted colorings.
37Then Jacob
took fresh rods of poplar and almond and plane, and peeled white streaks in
them, exposing the white of the rods.
38He set the rods which he had
peeled in front of the flocks in the runnels, that is, the watering troughs,
where the flocks came to drink. And since they bred when they came to drink,
39the flocks bred in front of the
rods and so the flocks brought forth striped, speckled, and spotted.
40And Jacob separated the lambs, and
set the faces of the flocks toward the striped and all the black in the flock of
Laban; and he put his own droves apart, and did not put them with Laban's flock.
41Whenever the stronger of the flock
were breeding Jacob laid the rods in the runnels before the eyes of the flock,
that they might breed among the rods,
42but for the feebler of the flock
he did not lay them there; so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger
Jacob's.
43Thus the man grew exceedingly
rich, and had large flocks, maidservants and menservants, and camels and asses.
(Gen. 30:37-43)
